our mission: mexico church planting
We are passionate about seeing God use us to begin a church-planting movement in Mexico!
Mexico City is a megacity of nearly 40 million. Hosting the world’s largest population, it is a crowded city squeezed into a valley between outlying mountains. It is the capital of it’s country, its population including nearly 1/3 of all Mexicans. Roman Catholic is the dominant religion (90%), but most are nominal participants in some syncretic form of their religion.
The city struggles with a lack of infrastructure, excessive pollution, rising crime, and an escalating economic crisis. The city is ever-expanding. Outlying areas that just a year ago were farmland are now being crowded out by the exponential growth of Mexico City. Every day, the city grows by over 2000 inhabintants! The need is so tremendous it would seem impossible to be able to reach such a massive city!
ABWE began it’s missionary work in Mexico City in 1989, and in 1991 it planted it’s first church, Missionary Baptist Church of Valle Dorado.
Since then, ABWE missionaries have planted
four more church plants in Mexico City. We were privileged to serve in one of these church plants during our first term. Currently, our teammates continue serving in Mexico City.
In 2013, God opened the door for us to move our family to Queretaro, Mexico, to begin a new church planting initiative in this fast-growing, industrial city of 2.5 million. We began the ground work for the Corregidora church plant from 2015-2017. That year we began our first services, and although the group is small, we trust the Lord will continue to build his church in the coming years.
